I provide individual counselling to adults (18 and older) experiencing a variety of concerns such as anxiety, depression, overwhelm, stress, shame, guilt, perfectionism, and trauma/PTSD.
Part of the individual counselling process is hearing your story. Sharing can be therapeutically beneficial. It also helps me understand your lived experience and unique reasons for seeking therapy. Throughout your counselling process, we might explore those aspects that are perhaps hard, painful, stressful, or contributing to you feeling stuck. Where possible, for your consideration, I offer psychoeducation, resources, and/or tools. Together, we may explore alternative ways for thinking and being, clarifying and connecting to your needs and values, as well as make new sense and meaning to your life experiences. While individual counselling is conversational in nature, I am actively drawing upon evidence-based approaches, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance-and committment therapy (ACT), and narrative therapy (NT) as my guide.
Individual counselling is not a one one-size-fits-all approach. Therefore, I aim to work collaboratively we each of my clients to map out a plan to reach their specific goals.
Please feel free to connect. We can discuss your reasons for seeking individual counselling and how I can help.
Individual counselling is more accessible through both video and phone sessions.
I recognize that everyone’s needs differ and that circumstances arise that hinder the ability to attend in-office sessions. Therefore, to enable access and continuity of mental health care, I also offer telephone and online sessions (through a secure video platform) as alternative ways for those individuals living in Alberta to receive counselling.
